GOAL

No, not the kind of goals the US soccer team is making at the Olympics.

(They are crushing it, sorry if you're not from the US)

Are you constantly setting goals for yourself and not always meeting them?

That was me. I used system after system to try and get organized.

Prior to AI, I finally settled on Asana to track everything.

I ended up basically telling people that if it didn't go into Asana, it doesn't happen.

This was before AI.

Lots more options to choose from today.

THE FUTURE

Chris told us once about a future he envisioned where the world around us changes based on our goals. This is how it would work:

  • Our AI would either infer a goal (It looks like to your walking more, are you trying to get healthier or lose weight) or we would just tell it "Hey AI, I want to lose some weight"
  • It would say OK. Then it would arrange our reality so that we would be guided to be healthier
  • It would make our Uber drop us off a few blocks from our meeting so we would walk the rest of the way
  • It would not allow elevator doors to open up in front of us so we'd have to take the stairs.
  • It would block tantalizing restaurants and food from our view in our AR glasses, so we wouldn't be tempted
  • When we are at a restaurant looking at a menu, any forbidden items would be blacked out.

(He might think this is cool, but I still think its creepy)

We all need help achieving our goals. Some humans are stronger than others. Some might need more help than others. Why not use technology to help us meet our goals?

It can be strong when we are weak.

WHY?

Goals give you direction and motivation. They help you focus your efforts and measure your progress. But setting the right goals and staying committed to them can be challenging.   2. Progress Tracking: Use AI-powered apps like Habitica or Strides to track your progress and stay motivated. These apps provide visualizations of your achievements, helping you see how far you’ve come and what you need to do next. They can also send reminders to keep you focused on your goals.
  3. Personalized Recommendations: AI can provide personalized recommendations and strategies to help you achieve your goals. Tools like Google Calendar and Microsoft To Do use AI to suggest optimal times for tasks and activities, ensuring you make the most of your schedule. Or use my long time fav Asana
  4. Accountability and Motivation: AI-driven virtual coaches like Rocky can offer support and encouragement, helping you stay accountable and motivated. These virtual coaches provide personalized advice and strategies to overcome challenges and stay on track.
  5. Time Management: AI tools like RescueTime or Clockify can help you manage your time more effectively by analyzing how you spend your time and identifying areas for improvement. By optimizing your time management, you can focus more on achieving your goals.

You: "I’m having a hard time setting and sticking to my goals. I always get distracted or lose motivation. Can AI really help me with this?"

You: "Okay, that makes sense. But I struggle with staying organized and remembering my goals."

AI: "Try establishing a regular routine for reviewing your goals. Set aside time each week to assess your progress, adjust your plans, and reaffirm your commitment to your objectives. This practice helps keep your goals at the forefront of your mind and ensures you’re making steady progress."

You: "What about staying motivated? I often lose interest after a while."

AI: "Motivation can fluctuate, so it’s important to create a system that keeps you engaged. One approach is to set up a reward system for achieving small milestones. Celebrate your wins, no matter how small, to keep your spirits high and maintain momentum. Visualizing your end goals and reminding yourself why they matter can also help reignite your motivation."

You: "I get distracted easily. How can I manage my time better?"

AI: "Effective time management is crucial. Start by identifying your peak productivity hours and scheduling your most important tasks during those times. Use techniques like time blocking to allocate specific periods for work, breaks, and personal activities. This structure helps minimize distractions and ensures you’re using your time efficiently."

You: "Thanks. I’ll try these suggestions and see how they help me with my goals."

AI: "You’re welcome! Remember, achieving your goals is a journey, and having a clear process in place can make a big difference. Stay focused, be patient with yourself, and adjust your approach as needed. Good luck, and feel free to reach out if you need further assistance!"

Everyone sets goals. The trick is to achieve the goal. AI can help with both.
